  • food pantry needs

We are grateful for all the donations to the Food Pantry.  As always, we will take any non-perishable foods. Items we can use that we don't get donations of very often are canned fruit, canned meats and dry breakfast cereal. Bring donations to the church office or put in the appropriate basket in the coat room off of the Welcome Center.

  • Spiritual discipline January - Prayer

    Communicating with God

Doctor Luke reports these words in the 11th chapter of his book:  One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”  He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’”  Luke 11:2-4

There are hundreds of examples and guidance for prayer throughout the Bible.  Of all Spiritual Disciplines, prayer is the most central because it brings us into connection and communication with our Father.  Real prayer is life creating and life changing.  In real prayer, we are brought into thinking the same thoughts as God.  We desire the same things He desires, we love what He loves and we will what He wills.  We should use prayer to change us and the world around us.  Prayer involves a learning process.  The more a person practices prayer, the more comfortable a person will become at praying. Prayer should be an “anytime, anyplace” activity that continues throughout a person’s day.

Thank you to all who worked this last OPERATION SERVE team.  If you missed out on the blessing, our next opportunity to serve will be next Spring.
